I find the similarity between these two scenes interesting

Me too.  It’s a bit reassuring to me knowing that he wanted to change back if it would have made Rose happy, and actually looks disappointed in himself that he can’t… But he *could* make Joan happy by changing back, and it doesn’t mean enough to him with her… It’s not that I hated Joan, but it’s just reassuring to know that his love for Rose was infinitely stronger.
